Classes for every level
Anyone who wants to try Brazilain Jiu Jitsu is welcomed at Mount Maunganui Jiu Jitsu, and classes are designed to facilitate learning at every level.
We offer both Adult and Children’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes.
Our children’s programme is divided by age to ensure training is developmentally
appropriate, safe, and effective:
- 4-year-olds
- 5–8-year-olds
- 9–13-year-old
Teen Participation
- Teens from age 13 may be eligible to train in adult classes, depending on weight
and coach approval - Minimum weight requirements apply
- Final placement decisions are made by coaching staff to ensure safety and
suitability

A Family Gym
The environment is welcoming and positive, with a strong emphasis on supporting fellow students and their learning.
Students at Mount Maunganui Jiu Jitsu range in age from 5 years to 50+ years, and are from all backgrounds, fitness levels, and professions. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu truly is a sport for everyone!
Mount Mauganui Jiu Jitsu are a club with great positive culture, and enjoy working with their students to help them achieve their goals.
Tu Kaha our affiliate club
Tu Kaha our affiliate club is founded by Pedro Pacheco Fernandes. Pedro came to New Zealand in 2003 and founded Tu Kaha BJJ academy in 2004. He has been grappling when he was 5 years old and has earned his black belt under his Master Antonio Claudio Collares.
